News Roundup 12.23.2020

Hey y’all. We have got some fun news today. A quick blog note: I planned to have a couple posts yesterday, but my internet had a long outage. You might get some extra posts (mostly Supernatural reviews) the next few days. Of course, this week’s big post will be the Miles Morales review and next week will have a Wonder Woman 1984 review. Look forward to those while you check out the important news of the past week.

As always, feel free to give your thoughts in the comments or on Twitter. And if you like what you read here, consider throwing a couple bucks my way on Patreon or Ko-fi to help cover costs and improve the site.

America Chavez’s miniseries is finally releasing

Announced way back in early 2020, America Chavez: Made in the USA will finally appear in March. Coming right on the heels of Xochitl Gomez being cast for the MCU, this news is unbelievably exhilarating. America should be one of Marvel’s top young heroes, but, for whatever reason, has not gained that level of popularity. I am not familiar with any of the creative team except cover artist Sara Pichelli, but I have hope that there is a comic here. Expect a review here when the first issue is published.

DC launches into the Infinite Frontier in March

Infinite Frontier is the name of the next era of DC comics—many of which I discussed here—and the one-shot issue that will kick off the event.  There does not seem to be a defining ethos beyond ‘tell good stories’, which is good enough for me. The launch point issue features stories from a number of my favorite creators like Joshua Williamson, Brian Michael Bendis, Joelle Jones, David Marquez, and Alex Maleev. That is a pretty exciting group and should lead to a fun issue.

My Hero Academia Returns in March

Season 5 of the hit series beings on March 27th. This is my favorite ongoing anime series--no, I have not watched Demon Slayer yet, but I will—so to have a release date finally confirmed is thrilling. The fourth season ended in a way that makes it clear there is a big status quo shift coming. That combined with my vague awareness of some future plot points means I cannot wait for March.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is also coming in March

We have a window for the premiere of WB’s biggest release of the year. Or one of the biggest, anyway. There is not much to comment on here other than note that I am extremely interested in whatever this is. It is doubtful it will truly be the ‘Snyder Cut’ that would have released three years ago but that does not mean it will be bad or uninteresting.

Taxi Chaos is the Crazy Taxi spiritual successor we all need

This is Crazy Taxi. That is all there is to it, but what more do you need? That was a super fun game back in the stone ages (at least it feels that long ago). The last title in the series was a PSP game so it has been quite some time. Really looking forward to this one.

Fisti-Fluffs is bringing cuteness to Switch

Goofy 3D cat battler? Sounds like a blast! This will be a cool little game to play with my family/friends in the future and sometimes that is enough. Plus, there are not any good Switch exclusive fighting games, so this will have to do.

Tunche

Tunche is a beat ‘em up, a genre I don’t often care for. The unique setting of the Amazon combined with the amazing hand drawn visuals have piqued my curiosity though. I have no experience with LEAP Game Studios, but this trailer displays a wide breath of talent and that has me interested. Plus it is always nice to changeup what one plays every once in a while.
