This isn't in the news but its relevant
|
Hey y’all. There isn’t a ton of news this week, but it is
all very interesting. This probably the last News Roundup before the next gen
console embargos break so I’m preparing for a metric ton of news about those
next week. Also, I can announce that I made the maybe financially irresponsible
decision to get a PS5 so there will be a review of it on this blog. That will
likely be early the week after release. I’m also getting
Miles Morales so
there will also be something about that, although the timeframe is unclear
since we don’t know how long that game is.
But that’s all in the future.
For now, let’s check the news!
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town Revealed
|
HYPE |
2021 is going to an incredible year in video games,
especially if you like farming simulators. First, the return of
Rune Factory
was announced last month. Now, we know there’s a brand-new
Story of
Seasons! These are great games to just vibe to while you decompress and
maybe listen to a podcast. They come highly recommended—and you’ll likely hear
more from me about them in the future—especially if next year is as stressful
and concerning as I think it will be.
Rune Factory 4 and
Story of
Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town are available on Switch right now and
they’re both excellent games if you’d like to get a taste of previous entries
in the series.
Green Lanterns On HBO Max Will Star A Black Woman
|
Not her sadly
|
This character is not Jo Mullein, the star of N.K. Jemisin
and Jamal Campbell’s
Far Sector comic series, despite the fact I used an
image of her for this section. That’s the real news. Having said that, it’s
still very cool that a Black woman will be front and center in this series. It
comes as no surprise given Marc Guggenheim is at the helm and diverse casts and
characters have been a focus of the Arrowverse shows, which Guggenheim stepped
away from earlier this year. On a related note, Alan Scott will also feature
and he will be gay, as he was in the excellent New 52
Earth-2 comics. I’m
slowly starting to get interested in this series, something I wasn’t expecting
at all.
Future State Will Star A Black, Non-Binary Flash
|
Very cool design too |
DC’s big comic event in January and February features a jump
into the future. In that future, Jess Chambers will be the Flash. And they’re
non-binary. To my knowledge, this is DC’s first non-binary character and definitely
the first with a starring role. Interestingly, this is not the first Black
Flash as I believe that title belongs to XS, a member of the Legion of
Super-Heroes. I didn’t really have any interest in the Future State Justice
League and Flash comics but now they’ve got my attention. Jess will make their
debut in
DC’s Very Merry Multiverse, a holiday one-shot, as Kid Quick in
December prior to the upcoming time skip.
