Weekly Comic Reviews 06.29.2020

Hey y’all. Back at it with two of my favorite comics this week. I also read the prelude to Empyre that released this week. It was incredibly dull, and I had nothing to say about it, honestly. I’ll wait for the actual event to start before reading anymore.

This full cover is incredible

Quick notice about next week: There are no comics I buy releasing, so I’ll be taking a fun detour into other stuff, including Gail Simone’s time on The Flash: Fastest Man Alive. It’s going to be an exciting week and I can’t wait to share it with you.

Spoilers for: The Flash #756, Saban’s Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers #50

Weekly Comic Reviews 06.24.2020

Hey y’all. I apologize for being late with these reviews. I was laid off Friday, so I’ve been mostly scrambling to get stuff in order. Also, it killed my writing spirit for a few days. But I’m back! I am going to once again mention that I have a Patreon. If you like what I do here, you can help me out (Especially right now) by throwing a couple bucks my way. I’d greatly appreciate it.

I have decided to remove the grading system from this series. I have been considering it for quite some time as I do not believe review scores add anything to the posts. Also, I don’t put scores in any of my non-comic reviews. Let’s shoot for some consistency. Now, on to the main event!

Spoilers for: Young Justice #15, Dark Knights: Death Metal #1

New Pokemon Trailers!

Well, sure was nice to wake up to the announcement of several new Pokémon games. Somehow, the one that got me most excited was a puzzle games for mobile phones. I honestly can’t explain how the puzzles work in this game. It’s some type of matching game that looks interesting. Hopefully it’s enough to keep my interest because I really want to just stare at this game. The graphical style is just incredibly engrossing, and I love how all the Pokémon shown look. It’s coming to phones (And Switch) soon, so I’ll let y’all know how it is.

The actual big announcement was the reveal of New Pokémon Snap. For literal decades, Pokémon fans have been pleading for a sequel to Pokémon Snap. Well, now we can shut up because it’s coming to Switch. IT looks gorgeous and exactly what I would expect from a new Snap game. The game has no release, though I expect it to be sometime this year, so I don’t know when we’ll all be able to go on chill Pokémon-watching adventures. Looking forward to Catching ‘Em All (On Camera) whenever I can.

As always, feel free to give your thoughts in these comments or on Twitter at @alexraysnyder. And if you like what you read here, consider throwing a couple bucks my way on Patreon to help cover costs.

The older ones were written right when they were released while the newer ones were written a few days ago. I don’t wanna hold y’all any longer, enjoy the reviews.

There's Finally Playstation 5 News!

Welcome to the PlayStation 5 blow out! Yesterday, Sony showed off their next generation console for the first time. There have been plenty of hints and details shared but no games had been shown nor had the console itself been. And now they’ve shown what I imagine is a huge chunk of the first six to twelve months of big PS5 games. So, I’m going to take a look at the ones I am vaguely interested in. That means no Resident Evil or Godfall, which look like perfectly fine if uninteresting games. It’s actually incredible that Sony showed such a variety of games that I can write about 14 games and leave those out.

First up, let’s discuss the PS5 itself. This is the strangest console I have seen in some time. I like it though. It’s somewhat alien and I find that infinitely more interesting than the Switch (Which is literally just a tablet) or the Xbox Series X (A computer tower). I do wonder if it sits flat on the long side or if I’m going to be forced to stand it up, so it doesn’t wobble. Also, I wish the color scheme were inverted like a tradition PS2, 3, or 4. I just don’t like white much.

On to the games!
