Supernatural Redeems Then Kills A Longtime Character

What is Supernatural about now? Fate vs Free Will seems to be the primary theme. That has yet to truly manifest itself though. There have been hints of it; a short exchange here, a mournful glance there. But that’s all. Everyone thinks Chuck as abandoned the universe so there is no conflict here. Free Will won as far as the boys are concerned.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Looks SICK

This. Game. Looks. SICK. I haven’t been paying especially close attention to this game, but the basic premise ensured that I would be picking this up. A DBZ game that isn’t a fighting? I’m in. Of course, there appears to be plenty of fighting in this game. And it appears to be in a style similar to the Xenoverse subseries, a pair of games I love.

The two things that appear to truly set this game apart are its graphics and genre. In regard to the former: Look at this trailer! This is probably the best-looking games I’ve seen. A huge part of that is its art style. While some prefer the look of a The Last of Us or God of War, I will almost always prefer a more distinct style than gritty realism. And this absolutely nails the idea of “Akira Toriyama, but 3D´in a way that I much prefer to, say, Dragon Quest XI. DQXI, while gorgeous, often looks just a hair off. More like clay figures than anime characters. This game appears to do a much better job translating Toriyama’s art.

The other incredibly exciting aspect of this game is that this is an Action-Adventure RPG. I love Xenoverse and Dragon Ball FighterZ. Those are a fantastic set of games. But my preference is and probably never will be fighting games. RPGs are my bread and butter. There appears to be quite a bit of exploration and side quests to keep myself busy with. That sense of adventure is what I come to these types of games for. I want to save the universe from Ultimate Evil, but also, like, get cats out of trees and shit. Kakarot appears to be exactly that type of game so sign me up.

Casualties Begin to Pileup in the Latest Supernatural

Welp, I guess I should have saved a couple of my comments from last week for this one. This episode left me in a similar state as last week’s and yet, I found 'The Rupture' much more satisfying despite the fact it makes the future of Supernatural less clear than even 'Raising Hell'. Maybe it’s the fatalities in this episode. That feeling of finality for those characters despite the fact I think one of them might even be back later in the season. But more of that in a second because I want to talk about a different character first.
